 For this role, we are currently considering candidates who live within approximately 15 miles of the Care Home. This ensures commutes are manageable and support your wellbeing and work-life balance.  About the role
 We are looking for a skilled and reliable Maintenance Worker / Gardener to join our team at MHA. This is a varied and rewarding role, helping to maintain a safe, comfortable and attractive environment where residents, visitors and colleagues feel welcome and supported.
 As Maintenance Worker / Gardener, you will be responsible for the general upkeep of the Service, including buildings, equipment, grounds and gardens. You will work closely with the Management team and contractors to ensure maintenance, health &amp; safety and environmental standards are met at all times, in line with MHA’s values.
 What you will do
 <ul>
 <li>Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across the home, including minor repairs, decorating and general upkeep.</li>
 <li>Help develop and follow a planned preventative maintenance schedule in line with the Property Handbook.</li>
 <li>Maintain gardens, lawns, paths and outdoor areas, ensuring they are safe, tidy and well-presented.</li>
 <li>Monitor and maintain heating, water systems, lighting and other mechanical and electrical equipment, keeping accurate records.</li>
 <li>Test fire alarms, carry out fire safety checks and support compliance with health &amp; safety requirements.</li>
 <li>Liaise with the Home Manager and external contractors to arrange servicing, repairs and inspections.</li>
 <li>Assist with risk assessments and ensure hazards are identified and addressed promptly.</li>
 <li>Support the safe movement of furniture and equipment, following manual handling guidance.</li>
 <li>Respect residents’ privacy, dignity and choice at all times.</li>
 <li>Attend training, supervision, appraisals and staff meetings as required.</li>
 </ul>
 About you
 We are looking for someone who is practical, organised and takes pride in their work.
 You will bring:
 <ul>
 <li>Previous relevant maintenance experience (essential).</li>
 <li>Practical skills in general maintenance and/or gardening.</li>
 <li>A recognised trade qualification (e.g. City &amp; Guilds in plumbing, joinery, electrical or decorating) – desirable.</li>
 <li>Good communication and listening skills.</li>
 <li>The ability to work independently and as part of a team.</li>
 <li>A flexible approach to work, including occasional travel or out-of-hours attendance when required.</li>
 <li>Sensitivity to the needs of older people and a commitment to quality service.</li>
