A great opportunity to work in your local community to support older people and increase social inclusion. The main responsibilities will be in Hampshire West.
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team in West Hampshire. You will need to travel around the district, so you must have access to a car with business insurance.
Administrative duties and record-keeping will require applicants to be competent with a variety of digital packages, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
Prior experience and/or willingness to deliver food-based activities and cooking will be required, as many of our activities provide light refreshments such as hot drinks and biscuits at a minimum, but can range up to a full lunch club depending on the local need or funding.
The MHA Communities Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and running a programme of activities, the scope of which will vary depending upon local need. This current post includes the running of an exercise and craft group in Ringwood.
All activities will seek to reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness and promote the wellbeing of older people across a range of community settings.
This programme could include any mix from MHA’s core service offering – such as befriending, lunch clubs, social outings or clubs. In addition, the post holder will be required to develop new activities based on feedback from and the needs of the community – this could include coordinating with other organisations such as local colleges to offer IT classes or arranging for a local professional to deliver a series of exercise groups.
We are always interested in hearing from applicants that may have specialist skills and/or interests that could enhance the scheme offer such as knowledge of benefits services & support, nursing & care, adult education, nutrition, fitness instruction, music etc so please do make these skills/interests clear in your application.
The Community Coordinator will work closely with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and so good communication is as important as having strong organisation skills.
For an informal discussion about the role, feel free to email the Scheme Manager, Emily McEnery: Emily.McEnery@mha.org.uk
